Which is a better intake??
A K&N FIPK or a lid, filter, and FRA?

none of those are intakes...
those are lids, or alternates to using a lid. more commonly called induction...
an intake for example is the LS6 intake or FAST 90 intake...
for induction i like the lid and K&N, that's what im using, along with an LS6 intake (for the moment)...2018 CTS-V: °°668rwhp/658rwtq°°

personally I just intend on buying the classic SLP lid just like everyone else, I don't know if I'm going to go with K/N though my bro fucked up his maf sensor from the damn oil in those things.

If they are properly oiled that doesn't happen.
I have run a Whisper lid and K&N for 8 years with no problem.
The K&N comes pre-oiled. Look at it carefully. Pound it into your memory. Take a picture. Never oil it more than that after you clean it. Follow the instructions.

Any lid, paper filter and FRA. Bang! Your intake is done.

I second that, I find the lid to be the most straight forward simple mod. An absolute must
