    Best Lid

Is there any difference in the different air lids out there. Also, is only replacing the air lid going to make a significant difference or do you need to go with the whole setup, like SLP sells. My car is a 2002 WS6 by the way.

from what i was told when i was askin this same question, a lid is pretty much a lid, they all do the same, as long as it isnt the stock lid. I had an ls1motorsports lid. i wish i could say it was the best, but i dont know that. No way to tell the difference really unless you dyno with each one. Anyone else got some insight on this?

There's no lid on the market that will give big gains in HP.. It's a ricer myth.. Maybe 2-3hp.. It does'nt matter how much they cost.. More like icing on a cake than a hp builder..

Agreed. Its more of an appearance mod to me, but unlike ricer mods this one gives your car some kind of benefit. Not much but a lot more than the 50 horsepower gain from a sticker on your Hondas windsheild

Most lids will give you about 10hp over a stock lid, I found that the SLP lid to be the best fit, and the least problematic.

Not to be a d*(k but you got dyno on that claim? If it's true I'll change mine right now for 10hp no "pun" intended..

I've witnessed Dyno results of 10-15HP with a lid swap. Was about 15 pulls all together and that was about the average from what I remember. I don't recall the lid manufacturer though and it was on a 2010 Camaro SS.

Lids no matter what brand are gonna give you about a 10 RWHP gain. Some might be 12, some might be 7 or 8. Those differences could also be attributed to the dyno machine, not necessarily the lid itself. Find one that fits/looks good and go with it. Don't worry about one giving you better gains than the next one.

    Okay I finally found it!
Gm High-Tech Performance, November 2006, page 94 "Flipping our lids".
They tested 7 different brands of air lids, with 3 dyno runs with each lid; dyno grafts of each lid in the article.
The SLP lid gained about 10hp and 8tq.

I have seen multiple dyno proofs of it, lids are worth about 10 HP.

The first mod for our car was an SLP lid. I took some time and compared the stock lid and helmholtz resonator with the SLP unit. The difference is actually rather remarkable and the fact that it results in legitimate gains was of no surprise.

There is an article on high perf pontiac where they gained 7 hp from a lid swap and filter change. However the filter could have been very dirty lol

All lids are same pretty much.

I want a blackwing lid cause I have seen how it fits on a friends Camaro and it fits like OEM.

"Included in 2002 models built after August 2001 is a High Flow Induction System. The new air box lid and filter are designed to produce a 10 hp increase over last year's model for a total of 345"
    slp firehawk lid ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I would say 10 is fair. The stock air box is just complete crap.
