Best Fitting ORY?
I just need some opinions as to what the overall best fitting ORY would be for my '00 TA. Which one flows great with a nice merge collector but also fits snug to the bottom of the car for best ground clearance?
I was looking at a Kooks ORY to go with Kooks 1 7/8 headers, but just want some opinions before I get it.
Thanks

I picked up a mufflex 4 inch y pipe. I am real happy with it. It tucks up pretty nice as well. My car is stock height.

My pacesetter actually increased my ground clearance from a slp catback. Very happy.

when i ran an ORY setup, i used a 2-piece ORY y-pipe from Pacesetter. that way, it allowed me to adjust and modify it as necessary to get the clearance and connections like i wanted them.

no to kooks. i very much dislike my kooks. had them professionally installed then professionally adjusted...
first off the kooks ory if very cheap and causes alot of rasp. i would look into a custom ORY or ARH ory....
dont get me wrong...i like my exhaust (just not the 2200-2500rpm range)
exhaust set up is in sig

thats my thing the rasp sound. so could the rasp be eliminated or reduced depending on the ORY?

in my opinion, no. and ORY is an ORY, is an ORY. they are all pretty much similar in design. it's the cats or catted y-pipe that help to reduce rasp along with a complimenting cat-back system.
obviously, the desire to use an ORY means you will have to address the rasp somehow/elsewhere in the system (ie: muffer/resonator size, shape, profile, internal baffels, etc.).
one thing is for certain: it's damn near impossible to eliminate rasp 100%. only reduce it.

I see. Im thinking about getting the BBK headers that come with an ORY. I have adjustble borla exhaust. im wondering if closingthe open end will help with the sound. you mentioned a resonator. do resonators go after the ORY? Is it cheaper to get cats or a resonator? sorry about all the questions but exhaust is not one of my strongest areas.

resonators go after the ORY, before the muffler. Cats and resonators are about the same in cost, with cats being a few dollars more. Since your in FL and have no emmissions I'd go with the resonators over the cats. Now if you get a cat back system then that's different.
This weekend I'll do a video of my setup so you can hear it. I think you might like it. Pacesetter LT, TS&P ORY, Magnaflow Muffler. At idle, you know there's something but your not sure, at 2k-3k a nice rumble, 3.5k it opens up and has a nice throaty growl, then above that it really opens up and can be loud as hell. (I can't wait for my H/C & E-cut out mods.)

A cat back system is an exhaust system that only includes from your Y-Pipe back, meaning a muffler/resonator, all the piping to run from the y pipe to the rear of the car, hangers, clamps and tips. I would suggest one resonator, placed after your y pipe before it comes over the axle. Seems like that is where you would have the most room.

Thanks mud. So any particular brand of resonator?

Jay, a resonator is not a catayltic converter. they are two completely different exhaust components. if you are worried about passing inspections (visual), you might not have a coice, and will have to retain cats.
typically, resonators/mufflers are considered part of a cat-back system (meaning they come after the y-pipe, catted or ORY).
personally, i am not a fan of Borla, but since you have the system already, keep it and do the BBK shorties and a catted y-pipe. you won't see near the gains since they aren't a long tube header, but there will be some increase in power. chances are rasp won't become an issue either.

i dont have inspections. im not doing shorties. for that I just keep the stock manifold. are you suggesting shorties because of the rasp? i do know the resonator are not cats. I just didnt knew how mant would I need if I decide to use them to control rasp. I didnt buy the borla system. it came with the car when i bought it. Thanks Brian.

hey what you guys think of these?
http://orlando.craigslist.org/pts/2478884113.html
The only issue will be getting a ORY for it. Im trying to see if this is a better deal than the BBK combo from summit.
