Best exhaust set up for hp ?

what do you guys think would be the best exhaust setup for the most hp for a 98 z28 A4 (ls1) ? its pretty much stock just K&N filter, lid, EGR delete. I was told to do true dual straight pipes is this correct ?

I believe X pipe would be the best way to go.

I don't have true duals, but don't forget it's supposed to be pretty damn loud...but yes, usually true duals net the highest hp gains.

duals will get the best overall power but to run them all the way to the back=big bucks.
get a catback of your choice and a cut out. way cheaper and will net you the same power just about.

^ what about the texas speed 3" duals? they are like $300, i think. get those and longtube headers for best performance.

only thing i dont like about those is they dump under the car. otherwise, they should make the most h.p out of any set up.

^ thats better for horsepower though. but yes, it will be much louder in cabin and not look as good. if it were me I'd have the muffler shop extend it out, but its still a pretty affordable dual setup.

I have a set of custom duals that dump before the axle. With long tube headers and a mild cam it is not that bad. I use the car as my DD, about 1200 miles a month on average. It does have a bit of a nasty drone below 1800 RPM in sixth gear, but other then that the inside is not bad at all. Outside or when I get on it hard it is defiantly noticeable.
