Belt flies off at high RPM? - What to fix?
This is the 2nd time now, at WOT high RPM, the belt flies off. Once at the track, now today on the highway. Leaves me stranded.
I have an ASP crank pulley, and am wondering if that's the issue. Should I look at a different pulley?
(A4, LS6 intake, tS 228r cam, plus lots more bolt ons.)

could it be that you have the wrong belt size for the pulley??? Also check your tensioner and idler pulley, but just make sure you have the right size belt 1st.

Lat week, my belt almost walked completely off just cruising. Chances are, it is your tensioner pulley. The sides of it are not tall enough.

Katech has a really nice tensioner/pulley. Used same on the Lemans C-5R Corvettes.

if I'm not mistaken the powerbond pulley is the same one that SLP uses and it's the one I run.

They appear to be identical. Good parts!

I saw the KATech tensioner, Looks like I may go for that.
I'd be willing to re-invest in the SLP crank pulley too, but wonder if I should get the tensioner, and then if I slip the belt again, then go for the SLP crank pulley later. Thoughts?Last edited by 666ws6; 07-13-2008 at 12:13 PM. Reason: corrected thought

the pulley is available with the tensioner. Call them. My "kit" came with the pulley
installed on the tensioner. Very nice parts, available in several colors too.

OK, I bought the Katech tensioner and another belt. Plus that Thunder Racing T-shirt with the TA wheel stand! I'm a sucker for TA stuff!

Any of our sponsors carry this upgraded piece?

If you mean who carries the Katech Tensioner... yes, Thunder Racing carries it as well as some others. You can go to Katech's site and see who their distributors are as well.
If you mean the SLP pulley... almost every sponsor has that.

Well, I think I am about to buy the Katech tensioner. Solid.
Anyone have any comments on not buying solid and going spring loaded? I am about to click the button!

Ah, screw it... I ordered it. Victor is very close to me. Hopefully have it Saturday at the latest! My belt didnt come all the way off, it was hanging on by about 2 ribs. Ive read quite a few very good reviews on this tensioner. Hopefully all works well!
