BBK SSI intake manifold
anybody using one? i am thinking about getting one,not a bad price, around $750 with a 85mm throttle body. just a little unsure about swapping to aluminum, kinda like stepping backward from a composite intake, but the damn F.A.S.T intake is damn expensive and their throttle body ain't cheap either.

My tuner said they suffer from heatsoak how much and the hp loss I don't know. Now they have leaked so using the Teflon tape to properly seal the fuel rail it comes with is a must. They do leave a lot of room for porting and would be nice to have for nitrous. You could also get a used fast for a little less than $700.
A more immediate question is do you have the cam to require a new manifold?

yeah skip the BBK. Its not a highly recommend intake for many reasons. The usual recommendations are to use the LS6 intake or the FAST

I am planning for my new engine(ls6) and was thinking about the bbk,the price is hard to beat, thanks for the answers guys.ok,so with a ls6 longblock would it be worth the money to get to fast 92mm intake and throtte body or swap over my factory intake (02 t/a ws6)

there isn't a whole lot to gain from the FAST until you start installing bigger cams. Before that its kinda like an appearance mod.

I've got the BBK SSi on my car with a ported BBK 85mm TB it clearly seem to pull harder above 3500rpm, compared to my old LS6 intake with a ported Stock TB.

Let me put it this way; you don't want to put your hand on it 5 minutes after you've shut the engine off.
The way I look at it, the air sucked through you intake is only in there for a fraction of a second before being pulled through the cylinder heads, so myself I don't really see any big issue with heat soak.

Are you looking at heavy mods? Your stock LS6 intake is just as good, thats what a lot of us buy instead of the bbk and all the other companys. I wouldnt get the fast unless im running a stroker or a good shot of juice. Theres a member here with H/C and an LS6 intake with 450+ whp

I liked my BBk intake I just installed it last week you can feel the power the bad part was I broke my tranny that same day so I couldn't test it out long enough. its only 400 at new era performance and the LS6 intakes are about 350. just my 2 cents.

Meh. I'd stay with the LS6 until moving up to a FAST. Heck, I used a LS6 intake on both a stout H/C set-up (436/420) and a solid 382 (460/460). It is light, durable, has built-in gaskets and doesn't become a restriction until over 400rwhp...
