The stocker came with 690 CCA. Anything above that would be fine. Iv owned two optima batterys and im not impressed at all. Not for the price tag. I have chinazone specials in all three of mine right now without and issues.

Optima red top. Owned 3 of them. I get about 5-6 trouble free years out of them.

Optima Red Top here. Price was outrageous though. Buying little things like this, makes me wonder why I choose this as a hobby. Battery better be good for 7 years or someone is going down.

Optima is the way to go especially if your car sits for extended periods of time.

optima is a good battery but with that being said I get many years out of pretty much any battery I've ever used. I currently have whatever advanced auto parts store battery is in my truck, gto, durango, and firebird. Gold something or other they call it. The truck battery is 6 years old, the bird's is 4 years old, the GTO's is 2 years old and the durango's is less than a year. I also have their deep cycle batteries in the boat and camper. No issues out of any of them.

I've gotten good service and long life from just about any battery and alot of my cars sit over winter when back in Ohio,,,but thats not as much of an issue anymore (stab stab at Orion )

But for most of the cars, especially the older ones I lean towards ACDelco batteries for that stock look. That last ACDelco that was in the chevelle was 11 years old. It was a 7 year battery, the most expensive of the bunch,,,, but 11 years on a car that sits alot,,sheeesh. The ole green eye was gone for the last 3 years but it kept working I never even used a battery tender on it. Although I have a couple of them and they work great for cars that sit for long periods of time.

If they ever make an optima battery in black I'll probably give them a try, just not a fan of a big red or yellow eye sore when I pop the hood on a stock muscle car. Although I have a factory tar top cover for a couple of the old cars,,,,I wonder if that would fit over the funny shape of the optimas????
