    any real proof on exhaust?

I just got my set of FLP ceramic coated long tube headers with the catted Y-pipe, I am thinking about installing a set of flanges on the Y-pipe so that the cats can be bolted on (for my state inspection) and then remove them for the rest of the year, and just run some straight pipe. my question is this, would this be worth the aggrevation? Would there be a worthwhile difference in Power, to me 2-3 horsepower is not worth the effort, 10-15 is a different story, I am assuming the cats on this pipe are High flow so surely they could not choke that much out, anyone had any experience with this, perhaps on a dyno?

Also I am putting a cat-back on the car It has some no name system on it now, all cobbled together, I am going back and forth between the dynomax or the hooker system, are they about the same in flow and power, Also considering the borla system, never heard one but alot the guys on this site say they are raspy.
I drive the car almost daily So the loudmouth systems are out I have heard them and they are raspy and loud. and what is a GMMG or GMMP exhaust I have seen this abbreviation in a few threads.
appreciate all the input you have fellas

GMMG is a chambered exhaust system that costs about $700. Not worth it IMO.

And the general consensus seems to be that ORY is chosen because of either sound or someone who really wants that few extra horses, but I don't believe it yields gains of 10-15 hp.

I'm pretty sure running high-flow cats vs no cats only makes a difference of 2-3 hp...not worth the extra time & effort in my opinion...if anyone disagrees w/ this feel free to reply...

On the dyno I have seen N/A cars with the hooker catback routinely only gain 2-3 rwhp through their cutouts (and that's with ORYs!) and the only car that I ever tuned that went from ORY to catted Y ended up keeping the cats when he only was down 5 HP from 6 months prior with the ORY once his tune was touched up a bit. If I hadn't seen it I would have predicted the cutout to be worth a little more and the cats to hurt a little more.

nowadays cats dont restrict as much flow as older versions of high flow cats.
as for exhaust, get the hooker, it doesnt rattle your ears numb and has an old muscle car tone to it.

uhh, how dare you! haha. I love my magnaflow, but if I had to replace my catback, I'd go with hooker. Do they just use a single in/dual out aerochamber muffler on their catback?

FLPs were supposed to have removable/interchangable cats/off road pipes.

    FLP's

I have the FLP system. The headers and Y-pipe are flanged so that you can run cats or the straight pipes that come with the kit. All together your FLP system should include the following... 1 set of full length 1 3/4" headers, 2 cats, 2 Off road test pipes (straight pipes), a 3" Y-pipe and all the clamps and bolts.... its a excellent system...

unless you bought JUST the headers from someone.. Im not sure if I understand your question

you know... my lm1 with lt's and ory is not too loud inside the car, but outside my mom said she could hear it from on top of the ridge when I pulled out on hixson pike. the way the bird flies that is 200 yards, but it's all up hill with trees all the way up so it's pretty damn loud. lol.
