    Question Another intake option

What do you all think of the BBK SSI 85mm intake? BBK claims that it out performs the LS6. Do you think being aluminum, it will be more of a heat sink than the LS6 or less than?

I'd love to seen some real numbers on this. Maby something like a ls6 vs. bbk dyno on a modified car. MY car had a BBK when I bought it.

it might be able to beat the LS6 but im suer it costs more and it won't be better than the FAST so its kind of in a position few people need.

serch the site you will see this agument many times im pretty sure that it flows as good as an LS6 but with heat soak. and they also have fit issues. LS6 FTW also they have a hole for the EGR so you have to plug it if you don't have one. IDK when I got my intake I reserched them and the pros did not outway the cons.

I wanted to go with bbk 85mm intake, 85 throttle body, 85mm maf, went to the mechanic and they said on the dyno the numbers got progressively worse, I guess with heat soak, its wierd since mustangs run with aluminum intake manifolds and all carb cars are metal, but with ours for what your going to do even with nitrous the manifold will end up losing power (over time- and it wont cool down just like your engine), also look at the dyno tune section on here or at ls1tech.com to see what people have done. It's sad for me actually to see that buying anything bigger than ls6 without bigger heads doesnt really do anything for the the car, people with ls6's and people with the fasts still put out roughly the same power unless they get heads.

What about just putting a larger throttle body on my stock intake? Is that even worth my time and money?

If you are looking for a big difference-no, if you do intake with throttle body yes.

Any word on it's release? Looks like the new camaro will beat it out.

I have heard it was supposed to out flow the FAST for less money.

There's a 10 minute long video about it on you tube. They say they're gonna price it in the $650 range. Also, I don't know where my dad found it at, but he did some research and the numbers they're claiming for it (31 rwhp/36lb ft tq) were on a heavily modified holden LS1 in Australia.

well you cant expect that on a stock ls-1, there is only so much air and fuel you can squeeze into a stock car.

Yeah, that's why I said that. You'll only see the benefits on a modded car. Otherwise, it's just like the other aftermarket intakes. Not worth the time or money.

Yeah that way I can buy your modded car for cheap when the credit card company auctions off your car
