    Alternator

Hey I have a 98 Z28. I swapped out my alternator a few weeks back with a brand new one. While I was replacing it I forgot to undo the regulator plug on the top of it. The alternator hung a lot of weight on it for a couple minutes. Now about a week ago I started getting a check gages light and my volts would go up and down. Yesterday my car died. I had the alternator retested and it is fine. I've checked all my wire connections and can't see any problem. Could the regulator plug wire be damaged internally and if so were do I get a replacement? Thanks for any help.

yes the could be damaged, and you can get a new pigtail plug and wire at auto zone, advance or napa.
I've got new altenators more than once and had to replace the after crapping out a week or two later, so it could be a bad new altenator.
it can be a pain in the butt to figure out so good luck man

    Alternator Problem

Hey guys I have a 98 z28. Changed out the alternator and battery a few weeks back. I keep getting a check gauges light and my volt meter is reading in the red. I've check all my connections they are all good. I've taken the alternator back and swapped it with another one. Its a brand new not a rebuild. I had them put it on the tester and it was testing good. Took it home and my car is still doing the same thing. Prior to changing my alternator and battery it was not doing any of this. I see there are some relays in my fuse box could they be bad? I'm at a loss, any ideas.....

Could be your battery, if your not sure your local autozone or advance should do a free charging system check.
When you swapped alt's did you disconnect the battery?
Are your battery terminals free from corrison?
What condtition is the belt in?
