about different colors of headers

i was told by a local friend of mine who has a truck that putting in black headers will rust faster.......is that true? cause at this time i am not really sure at all the different colors...meaning crome, black and what not. im also looking on ebay right now and i am seeing a pair of headers for 152 from DNA Motoring....not sure thats believable so i was just wondering if anyone has heard of that brand or not.

Black headers do not have any coating to them. After a few heat cycles, that black will be gone. If your vehicle sees a lot of winter driving, harsh elements, I would recommend getting some coated headers, whether it be jet hot coating, ceramic coating, or whatever. The coating will increase the life of the headers.

Agreed. Black, white or any other color, a painted header is going to eventually rust. I spent hours working on the headers for my friend's Dart -- he's old school so they had to be white. I even baked the finish on in an oven before installation -- and they still rusted.

I have cermaic coated Dynomax headers on our Corvette and they have held up well so far. You just have to be real careful during installation that you do not gouge the coating. The T/A is getting stainless LT's this winter so rust will not be an issue.
