5.3 Vortec Fuel Pump
I have two questions...
I have a 5.3 Vortec engine in my 53 chevy. It's run really well until this week. It has started stalling when on a hill and sometimes when I have been sitting at a stop sign or light. I can hear the pitch of the fuel pump begin to slowly rise just before this happens. I have also checked and noticed that the pump is warm to the touch. It's a Summit external EFI el cheapo pump. I'm thinking about replacing the pump with something more compatible with my engine.
QUESTION ONE: Should I replace it or is the problem possibly something else?
QUESTION TWO: If the answer to question one is "YES" what pump would you recommend with reliability and economy in mind.
Thanks in advance for your help!

is your motor a vortec 5.3 (old style small block), or is it an ls 5.3 with multiport fuel injection? if its an lsx series with the factory style injection you should have around 55 psi at the rail...check your filter too
