All 01-02 Fbodies came with the LS6 intake, no matter if they were SS or WS6. And some (I believe 25%) came with the LS6 block which increased strength and flow I believe. More educated can chime in but I think I have the basic part correct.

I don't remember the % that came with LS6 blocks, but its a slightly stronger block and has some better windage holes in the block for a little more potential power in higher rpms.

yes, my 02 ta had the ls6 and pretty sure the z28's did too. i read somewhere that the ls6 blocks were put in f-bods after september of 01 due to the shortage of ls1 blocks. but there are many guru's on this board and other sites that will argue that there is no real day and night difference in performance. anyway this is all off the top of my head and no real facts in front of me.

On the back of the block, drivers side- you will need a small mirror and a light. 12561168 is the casting number for a LS6 block.

Also, 15% of 01s and 25% of 02's got the LS6 Block. The only difference is that the LS6 has better bay to bay breathing. The LS6 block does not increase horsepower!

All ya really have to do is look for the EGR system.
The LS6 intake does NOT have the EGR tubing running into the fitting behind the throttle body. The LS1 intake did.

`97-`00 Corvettes don't have EGR and they have an LS1 Intake so there are some LS1 intakes without EGR.

But to answer the original Question GM stopped making the LS1 Intake after 2000 because it wasn'r economical to build 2 passenger car intakes so all cars recieved the new upgrade Intake (LS6)

The discussion is F-body. Not Corvette.

Thats not an entirely accurate statement. SLP made an LS6 intake with the EGR provision. They are not very common, but you can't just assume that because an fbody has the EGR that it's an LS1 intake. It is possible to have the EGR and be an LS6 intake.
