    1998-2002 Airbox and lid question.......

Anyone know if the Airbox and lid and stuff from the 98-02's Camaro/Firebird T/A work on the older 93-97 LT-1's? I swore that with little mods it is an easy bolt-on. Found a super mint set-up for cheap! Any comments or suggestions welcome. Thanks

I think you need a 93-97 Ram Air Hood if you have a 'Bird.

You need the93-97 Ultra "Z" hood for a Camaro.

I don't think it will fit under the stock hood without some serious modification(hole in hood).

Don't know for sure if the '98-02 setup will work with a stock hood, but the SS Camaro for '96-'97 had the air filter on top of the intake of the LT1, not in front like the LS1s do and the WS6s had.

I have seen it done but you have to hack the car up pretty badly. The one that I saw had the fogs removed and air ducts in them up to the air box.

I think I am going to make an aluminum radiator base support myself (or the polished unit that they do offer for LT-1's), then use a "stocker" lid because they are a bit shorter in height I think. Gonna have to engineeer a way to make the lid clip/bolt on though. The SLP lid looks to be fairly taller but Im pretty sure I can get away with the GM lid. However, the base looks to add some height to the lid and really hoping that with sheetmetal base, I might get away using the SLP lid. Hmmmmmmmmm.....Im thinking sticky for us LT-1 guys if I go ahead with this!

Setups are totally different. You could probably fab up a custom setup that would work better than a stock LS1 intake that would take less work.
