Zr1 Question
I have been looking for a 90-95 ZR1 Hbk or coupe vette with a manual transmission. I haven't seen a lot on the market and was wondering if you vette guys thought it was worth still looking for. Have after market parts negated the ZR1s' performance advantage to the degree that they are not greatly sought after anymore? Sort of a rhetorical question but would like your input. Thanks.

Blk/blk- 2007 Z06
You can find them. Not sure where all you are looking, but you really need to go specialized like Vette Trader, rather than combing through a million Vettes on something like Auto Trader. Ebay also usually has a few.
As far as aftermarket - there arent many options, therefore parts are not produced in any kind of quantity and pricing is of course higher.
I think you can still do basic stuff - intake/exhaust and get upwards of 370-380 rwhp out of them. Of course as you probably know these cars are top end monsters dead stock - which is probably why you are looking for one.
Good luck.

I've been looking all over the web and have found lots of vettes. I had to buy a vette book just to make sure I wasn't getting BSd.

Red- '03 Vette
I saw this one in the Phoenix paper today. Seems like a good deal, especially with the low miles. I think these cars were about $60k new, right?
Not sure what the sock is though??

Pewter- 1999 Corvette Coupe
Shorty:
I too was interested in a ZR-1. I found one in a used car mag that showed the car at the CHarper Autoplex in south Pittsburgh, PA. The car is a straight stock 1990 with 11, 500 on the clock. They are asking $24,900.00. I ran a Kelly Blue Book on the car and it came up $22,500.00, BUT THIS CAR ONLY HAS 11,000 MILES!!! so maybe the $24K is not too bad but I would offer $23K to start. I also bought a CARFAX on the car and it came back clean and the service record mileage matching the odometer.
I test drove the car on the "low power" setting and it lit me up. I was not able to get used to the clutch and everything and I didn't ask the sales rep to turn on the "after burners". I have a '99 C5 and really enjoy it but I was interested in the ZR-1. What a tremendous car. If I were 20 years younger and had the scratch to buy it, it would be mine but I am sticking with the '99. At 59+, the '99 fits my style and bones. Smoother ride, smoother power curve and plenty of speed. If I loose my head, I can get into pleeenty trouble with the C5. I don't need any jail time.
That's my opinion.

I loved my zr1 until i tried out a 1996 lt4, I bot the 96 loved it/ then i made the biggest mistake of my car buying life! I traded in my zr1 towards a 1997 351 super charged saleen rated at 510 hp. / my 96 lt4 could blow it away? The engine blew up twice on the saleen they would not honor any warranty on it i had to correct their mistakes in their engineering at my cost both times / they claimed i was racing it . i was 58 at the time . STAY WITH THE VETTES. Look for a lt4 nice. i have a 05 gto now. looking at z06 wow.
