Vararam ram air intake

My c5 came with fog lights, do you have to remove them in order for the intake to work? Or is it just overall a better performance upgrade if I remove them if I get this intake?

I haven't actually seen a C5 with that set up, but I would have to say that it will depend on the placement of the fog lights. Obviously if a part of the bezel is obstructing the air passages is going to negate full performance...
For what I could see in the picks, it looks like free and clear install...

I bought the vararam, and I was totally disapointed. I seen all these people talking it up so much, on this site and others so I bought it. When I got it and looked at it, the cuts and build on the plastic pieces made it look like somebody had "manufactured" it out in the shed. I'm sorry, not trying to be a jerk, just being honest. It was a pain to put it on, and after all that, the power difference wasn't even noticeable. If I had it to do over again I probably would have went with the K&N FIPK. Again, I'm not trying to be malicious, but it does not deserve the hype it is getting. AKA RIP OFF!!

I think you're right on some accounts. The material quality is not the best along with some reported fitment issues

I've been aware of all those issues and what I've learned from people actually done the install themselves is that, they have reported no problems with the install, and others have had issues; however the performance gains outweigh the hassle for what I've heard...

How did you measure its performance?

I really like mine..the worst part of it was the install....just lots of tight spaces....

The performance gains are most noticable at speeds above 50 mph..it is after all a ram air system

I think that with all the hype I would be at least able to feel a little something, yes even at higher speeds. I didn't test it at the track or nothing, but if its a couple of tenths faster, I would think you could at least feel it. Anyway I'm thinking about trading it in and finding me an '04 Z06 this summer, and if I do, I guarentee you it won't have a Vararam on it.

I put one on my car last year and I pickup over 3 10s , but the best part was when it got hot outside all the cars with blackwings and air boxes took a dump on speed, cars that ran 13.3 in May was running 14.9 in July heat, you can't tell me sucking hot air though your radiator is better than the outside air from your leading edge of your car and there is no dyno numbers on it because it is Ram air and you can't fake Ram air on a Dyno.I have put two of on and it took some time, if you have a auto take the transmission cooler off and clean out everything you will be surprise what you find in it!

Don't those screens restrict some of the air flow on your yellow c5?
