Purchase C5 or CTSV

This is a discussion on Purchase C5 or CTSV within the Corvette forums, part of the Vehicle Specific category; Personally I'd go with the Vette because I already have a 7 series so I don't want another family car. ...

Personally I'd go with the Vette because I already have a 7 series so I don't want another family car. If you have a family, then you might want to look into the Caddi, but you will experiance more joy with the Vette.

Well maybe someone that has tiny feet and has the seat all the way back could get it closer to 50/50

Then call the LS1.com member a liar. Did you weigh your car with you in it? Because he did.

    Well done young man!
When I was 22, I was driving a beater 1967 Ford Station Wagon. You're a lot further along than I was at 22, okay Grampa's all done.

you should be able to get and older C6 for that....i know of 2 O6Z's that went for low 40's

I don't have a family, am in the Air Force and move to arizona this spring. I won't put crazy mods on the car, but will do a few bolt ons. I want it to be reliable and very fun. What do you think? By the way if you have any other suggestions, know that I am a GM nut. Spending about 20-30K
and i thought CTSV's came with the LSA? is that only in newer models, or an i just lost on what that motor is exactly, lol

The new one is the LSA, kinda like a LS9.

The body style the OP is posting about had an LS6 in early year(s) and then LS2.

ok, i didnt notice anything about which style he was talking about....unless he was implying it was the same years as the C5.

But yeah.I thought the LSA was like an LS9, but i wasnt sure. supercharged, same displacement, in the LS line

I love my c5. Its not the fastest car on the road, nor the best looking, but it is fast and looks good. I cant comment on the other.
Things to consider about the c5.
Note a c5 with 243 heads and Ls6 cam is basically a z06 hatch. but costs WAY less usually.
    1. no spare tire. And has to be towed by a flat bed.
    2. Cant check tranny fluid. Sealed
    3. might have electrical gremlins... but most are easy to fix.
    4. long way down. Im 6ft and getting in is ALMOST a PITA.

    Offsets.
    1. 32.7 mpg on the highway 24 city (my A4)
    2. nice stereo
    3. drives smooth, and rides great.
    4. TCS and ASM great in the rain.
    5. ran a 13.5 @ 105 stock. Not bad for a Ls1
    6. donuts are a blast
    7. love the HUD and the power seats/wheel
    8. Its a frickin Vette, they always turn heads.

Basically? I had two c5s. and Just bought a z05 a few days ago. They are not even close. besides the frame, engine, trans, brakes, suspension, glass, they pretty much are the same. If you just forget all those little things, then yes they are the same.

A base c5 and c5z06 are not the same with a ls6 cam and 243 heads. The c5 z06 has a better frame, more agressive tranny, better suspension, and braks. They are two very different cars.

you pretty much just summed up what i said. dont forget the glass! its got lighter glass. 243 heads dont have the light weight valves either.

no 243s DO have the lighter vlaves ..it depends on what you get them from ...the 6.0s have 243s without lightweight ...
