The car should run good,it could use a bigger converter. Does it have stock heads and intake? The auto does come with a 4L60E, but the LT1 version not the LS version. It is not a conventional transmission it acts more like a gearbox splined to the rear end. There is a torque tube(modified drive shaft) bolted to the back of the motor then runs along bottom of car connecting to rear end. Mine weighs around 3200 lbs with me in it, and flys for a slightly modified motor. The motor is said to have weak rod bolts, but keep the rpms below 6500 and you should be alright.

yea stock heads and intake, but i know all that about those already
it is a LS1, lets say the trans has over 100k with some play time on the car as in some track and streetracing......how well do these trans hold up with that miles and all that?

High temps (anything over 200) will kill an auto. I beat on mine like it owes me money, and it still runs strong at 73000 miles. I run a big trans cooler along with the factory cooler and my temps stay below 190 all the time, even while racing. Run synthetic fluid and install shift kit. The shift kit allows less slipping between gears. The firm shifts are far less harmful than the slipping of the clutches between gears. 100K on the clock, I would say run the piss out of it and rebuild when it breaks. It's not a question of WILL it break, but more like When will it break. Any stock auto beat on every day will eventually burn up the clutches and bands.

Be careful jacking up the car dont crush the fenders. Vettes eat batteries for a night snack, so don't be alarmed if they battery goes dead. The seats rock back and forth, it will always ride like a dump truck, and it will run in the 160's. Parts are expensive, so shop around. Headlight motors use plastic gears, so replace with metal ones when needed. don't be scared to work on it, it is just a car.
