    LG Motorsports C6 Z06 Dyno

Well, we picked up a brand spakin' new Z06 today from the dealer today, drove it straight back to the shop, and put her on the rollers.

441hp/412tq Right off the hwy. 102deg in the shop.

Guy's, you know these things look good, but wait until you hear it. There are butterfly valves in the exhaust tips that open and close depending on rpm or throttle. (I think it might actually have muffler bearings )

Everything I've seen indicates that they open @3500 regardless of throttle position. In any case those numbers are solid but unfortunately they indicate fwhp is near what they say it is...I had so hoped the motor was underrated .

Don't be disappointed by the numbers. Regardless of what they throw-down on the dyno, they're trapping around 126mph. My last SS had to make 523rwhp in order to run 126mph. So somehow, GM made it all work.

I haven't heard of any such thing on previous LS-series motors, so I doubt the LS7 would be that way. The motor does stand a good chance of loosening up and giving a few more ponies.

That about a SAE-temperature adjusted 450 and 420. I guess that's about right for 505 flywheel but I had hoped for more.

Do you know if you will be able to edit the PCM if and when you add headers, etc.?

I think 126-127 is about right for 500 HP flywheel in a 'vette.

Car and Driver tested a C6 ZO6 in its recent issue at 11.7 and 126.

And in their April 2002 issue, those same guys tested a Magnusen supercharged C5 prepared by Lingenfelter and rated by them at 500 HP. It did the 1/4 at 11.7 and 127.

I was so impressed with that April 2002 road test I had to have one and ordered one the day after I read the test. I had the Magnusen SC hit on my 02 ZO6 for two years before i switched out to the C5R engine. It put down 470-488 RWHP depending on the mood it was in on the day it was being dynoed, but it would always click off as many 11.6-11.7 at 125-128 quarter mile passes as you wanted in an evening at the track (at least with my son driving, it would, it would only do it once in a while for me).

Wow, what a great car! I might be able to afford one in about 25 years if it is wrecked.

LG Pro Headers were installed today (dyno #'s soon). However, LS2 Edit doesn't work on LS7's.[/QUOTE]

Supposedly LG will have whatever he needs to hack into the LS7 ecu shortly.

Dyno #'s are in w/ headers, they did 4 back to back to back to back,
    483
    476
    473
    467

Shows the effects of heatsoak on a stock tune. Seems the baseline #'s were with a hot engine so on a cold motor 450+ is not out of the question bone stock.

Very interesting. Not that it should differ much, but the #s for my C5R engine when first tested, normally aspirated, were 488 HP with a fair tune heat soak taking it down to 474 in four runs - essentially tracking your test. It had 10.25 compression, FAST 90 mm, and Kooks 1 7/8 inch headers, with cats and 3" enxhast -- pretty close to the LS7 set up with the LG headers but lower compression.
This was with the original "small" cam (forget the rating, but it is the Crowler Stage III out of their catelog, their biggest cam for the LS6, but its "big" only relative to a 346 - a 427 needs more).

I called Crowler and talked with them and they made a custom grid cam with more duration and lift for me. Its .594 lift with about 232-236 intake duration and about 6 degrees more duration on exhaust and lobe separation and profiles made for a smooth idle (this is a pattern designed for eventual SC application). That made 507 normally aspirated with cats, 540 without. It now makes 595 at 6000 (I know the LS7 goes to 7K but I'm going after low end grunt more than max HP with only 4-5 pounds of boost.
