    Just got a 2009 Z06

Went to Bondurant and did the Z06 experience so I didn't learn to drive in mine what a blast. This car is the real deal and the ZR1, even better. I probably put 300-400 hard miles on Bondurant's '08 Z06 and it never skipped a beat. Coming back from Kerbeck in Jersey were I bought it it got 27 mpg at 65-70 mph even with 505hp.

Any of you possers who want to talk smack about US cars come get some. Just another solder in the Generals army.

    Congrats on your new baby!
I know you'll enjoy every mile of ownership. I recently made the decision to do coilovers after lowering mine with the 10mm bolts. That and altering the factory exhaust to keep the muffler valves "open" at all times, and the addition of a K&N cold air are all I've done in the short 4000 miles I've had mine.
    These cars are incredible machines!

I was impressed when I first drove it then I went to Bondurant and it really impressed me with it's speed, handling, braking, durability, I spoke with Bondurant's chief mechanic and he said they had not lost a LS7 motor since they got them in '08, no trans's, only brake pads, one fuel pump, cluthes, and a set of tires every two or three days, he really spoke well of the new Goodyear F1 supercars, saying they lasted better than the previous F1's. I asked him what they did to the cars and he said race brake pads, dot 5 brake fluid, removed the foglights for better brake cooling(seems they see 140 degrees on the track during the summer months if Phx and that was about it. Bondurant rules!!!!

Did you feel the difference the K&N made, seems that 27 hp would be noticeable? The salesman at Kerbeck told me we are getting the last of the hp cars, cafe standard are forcing GM to less'n the power, then I read on the internet that the C7 Z06 will come with 600hp in 2011?

Let me say that the K&N was a noticable differance...27hp? I don't think so. More like 10-12 at the rears on a Mustang dyno. The ads were not taken on a Mustang dyno, in my opinion the only REAL dyno. That said, the throttle response is much crisper, and a bit more linear. Overall well worth the $$$, as I assume any of the cold air kits are. I happen to be a fan of K&N and I have installed one on every car/truck I own. My 2008 Silverado went from a exact same test loop of 25 miles with a prior best highway mileage of 18.6 to 21.3 with NO other mods! Now that's not bad for a full size truck!
I think that if you open the muffler valves you'd be much happier with the stock [sound]exhaust, not to mention the added grunt you'd be getting below the 3500 rpm when the factory would open them for you.
Of course I'm sure you didn't buy your Z06 for the gas mileage, as I didn't either, but with the the two mods (cold air + open valves) I averaged 30 mpg on a 300 mile trip a week ago that was 90% highway. The lowering may have helped a tiny bit, and I run my tires at 35psi on highway trips.
Anyway...pm me if you want to know how to open those valves without having to pull fuses or buy a "Wild to Mild" switch. It's free and it takes 10 minutes and you can switch it back to stock in the same amount of time.
    Enjoy! Jim
