Detroit resident George Talley has reason to celebrate after finding out that his classic Chevrolet Corvette is coming home 33 years after being stolen, and General Motors is helping get it back to him.

Talley last saw his 1979 'Vette in July of 1981 when he had it parked on a Detroit street. Unfortunately, thieves made off with it. Talley filed a police report, but after three decades, he had understandably given up any hope of getting the sports coupe back. However, out of the blue last week, he received a call that Mississippi police recovered the car, and it was ready to pick up. While the condition probably isn't as nice as Talley left it, the Corvette reportedly still runs.

According to our partners at AOL Autos, GM is even stepping up to support him by covering the cost of shipping the Corvette back to the Motor City. Scroll down to watch the rest of this heartwarming story.Continue reading GM helping to reunite owner with Corvette stolen 33 years ago
