Fuel smell then leak

1997 C5. Started recently with the smell of gas in the passenger compartment. Idle and driving. Recently pulled out of garage and after a minute at idle, strong smell of gas and then actual leak. Can watch drips (very small stream?) emerging from Lt. side rocker panel 3 inches or so from leading edge of wheel well. Is the fuel pump in this vicinity? Sound like aproblem anyone has had?

Fuel pump is on the tank, could possibly be the filter or a fitting has come loose.

It's your fuel filter. Make sure you get the right one at the store. The 97 and 98 are different from the rest of the c5 model years. It is a royal pain to change it. You have to drop the driver side exhaust to get to it. Did mine myself a few years back, but it was difficult. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies! I figured it was something relatively easy to fix, that is after I get to the site! Let me guess, two hours to do a five minute repair.
