    Exhaust ???

    Anyone done custom exhaust?

    I'm looking at a basic catback, most of the stock stuff is nice. I don't like the muffler location, or the quad tips. I was wondering if anyone has just done straight pipe from over the axle to the rear (muffler delete)? Think this would be too loud?? Most of the aftermarket stuff is effectively straight through anyway...

    Also thinking in terms of expense.. local shops are quoting me ridiculous amounts and the only reason I can see is the muffler location...

    I actually went through with the muffler delete, just got about 8" of straight pipe with some nice tips. It came out looking great. It's loud on throttle, mellow cruising, and just a burble if I want. The straight through without any bends has to have just as good of a performance benefit, if not better. It's actually MUCH quieter than I expected. I love it.
