    corvette sales are down !!

normal sales for C/6's have been running 35,000 to 40,000 a year.. last year 2010, were like 12,000 thats a big drop !! zo6 sales were just over 500 units. of course in bad economy, not a daily driver rkvette

ford posted a profit. but once again there is a difference between a GT that has some aspects of a functionality for 30k compared to a 50k-112k corvette that has about no functionality too it besides being a bad ass toy.

With the release of the new Grand Sport, it is presummed that the sales of the Z06 would drop. Seeing that the wide body is now obtainable at a lower price.

which is sad when you really look at it. shows that a good majority of the new z06 buyers..where more interested in its look than what it really was a 7.0 liter track monster.

not saying every z06 owner is like that...but a good majority

You make a good point, but remember that until the ZR1 was released, the only way to obtain the wide body was through the purchase of a Z06. Although I've never tracked my own car, I was more interested in having the best Corvette (at the time) and the most powerful one too. Not to mention that I find the base model Corvette a little bit boring compared to the wide body.
I think that most of us Z06 owners are a bit more into the hard core aspect of the Vette, as oppossed to the casual buyer who will only "cruise" his weekend toy.
It takes a bit more of a love for performance than purely an affection for cosmetic aspirations to throw down the extra cash for the Z06.

unless you have the money to spend on a z06..and like it for its widebody (pre zr1 and GS) i personally love the widebody and think the base looks plain just like you..but that isnt the only reason why i would sport a z06 )

I know the economy sucks but its not helping that the C6 is going into its 7th year of production. Don't get me wrong I luv the C6 z06 and zr1, you all who have one are truly lucky bastards and I hate each one of you.

you know the c7 is coming soon ? the C1 was produced 1953–1962 then 1963–1967 for the C2...C3 1968-1982..the C4 1983-1996 and 97-2004 for the c5...so 7-9 years isnt out of the ordinary

Why when you have a 06 z06? So similar but you have more power right?

i think it has to do with the fact that they took something special and unique to the z06 ...and slapped it on a base vette and charged z06 price range..

it could also be due to the fact more people willing to go buy a used vette and since the body style has been out they r out there. on a side note, When I Get a corvette it will b a z06 there just is no other choice
