    99 wrangler

    checking an engine

    hallo to all of you guys.
    i have a sort of tech question. if you can help on this it would be great.
    found a donor c5 1998 ls1 motor for my jeep swap. is there any way how i should check if its ok or not.
    the engine can be run to hear but i do not know much.
    how about the millages or if somethink will go wrong after the swap?
    which are the spots i should look better ?

    No Smoke, No Blow-by, if it's clean inside, buy it ! While it's out, I'd install ARP rod bolts, and 918 beehive valve springs. They are the weak points of this motor.

    same basic rules apply ,like bills98ta post said.!. all ls engines might have some clicking at start up, just make sure goes away when warmed up... i get this in my zo6 with 900 miles, and daughters 101,000 miles on her 2006 ss v8/ ls4 .. rkvette

    why is that question is somethink to do with the performance ?

    Be sure to pull the oil dipstick and check for any signs of water, also check the coolant for signs of oil. An overall visual examination should be made to determine if the engine has any leaks or any repairs to the block have been made. Pull the spark plugs to examine as well.

    Those would be my suggestions as well as what was mentioned.

    somethink else now heard reports about water pumps faile ? do you have somethink in mind ?
