Question Are the Cams the same in the C5 as they are in a ls1 02 Camaro SS?

I'm wondering if they cams are the same, I was told by someone else that they're different. I heard our cars put out about the same power but ours slightly less because of exhaust and intake restrictions, but is the rest the same?

yea if comparing the same year a f-body cam and a 'vette cam then they are the same. They dyno the same, and yes the 'vettes do have different exhuast headers/ systems.

I was checking out the rocker arm set in the slp book, and for the camaro ls1 it said it gives a gain of 10hp, and for the vette a gain of 15, I asked why and the guy in slp told me different cams... I THOUGHT they were the same. One difference is that the camaro package only has rocker arms and no springs. The vette ls1 package has both. I noticed something else too. If we want more performance out of our cars and we got the same engine as vettes then why not the same exhaust set up? we got the y pipe set up and vettes got the x pipe... I wanted gmmg but now I think I'm going for Bassani...

    Here is the scoop.

    Y-BODY
    LS1
    97-99 .479/.472 LIFT; 207/199 DURATION; 117 LSA
    00 .500/.500 LIFT; 209/198 DURATION; 115.5 LSA
    01-03 .479/.467 LIFT; 207/196 DURATION; 116 LSA

    F-BODY
    LS1
    98-00 .500/.500 LIFT; 209/198 DURATION; 119.5 LSA
    01-02 .479/.467 LIFT; 207/196 DURATION; 116 LSA

The HP gains that SLP mentioned could has something to do with the fact that the vette breathes and exhaust better than the f-body.

I don't really read that cam language but I do see that it is the same for a vette in the 02 year and my SS in the 02 year. Thanks!

you might not wanna trust slp with certain questions like that... always double check like I did.

I just had a genious thought!!!

Do any of you guys know if the vettes computer tuning is the same? I mean it could be since the exhaust design is different as well as the intake. I'm thinking of running a true dual set up and gaining more power from it. when I tune I'll probably get one of those hypertech programmers
