    C7 Corvette vs Nissan GTR

As a Corvette owner and enthusiast, I "like" the concept behind the new supercharged ZR1. When these car's hit the local streets, it's going to be reeeaaally interesting to say the least, yes indeedy. However, I just don't see it on the same level as the upcoming GTR. Rumor has it though that the C7 Corvette will be incorporating something that the new ZR1 should have, that is to say, AWD (Click Here)! GM needs to make this happen, I mean, can you imagine an AWD Corvette? Yup, I can too....

Yeah don't get me wrong, it would be nice but... after one of the guys on here get ahold of one and really start making power with it, the cost to upgrade the drive train inorder to handle the power is going to be double as expensive! Plus awd cars are fun in the snow and such, but who is driving their awd corvette in the winter? I love awd cars like the STI but, I love power sliding and donuts, drifting, or whatever you want to do with rwd. Thats still realatively cheap instead of selling my left one inorder to do a donut. Just my opinion.

Agreed, but the beauty of today's AWD configuration(s), is that you have the ability to turn it off, if so desired, and run solely RWD. I am almost certain that if the Corvette went that route (AWD), it would be optional (unlike the Evo/STI)...

Why does the 'vette "need" AWD? I'm tired of hearing it, AWD has it's own drawbacks. If the system isn't broke why fix it? BTW, it's rumored that a new GTR has been wrecked already, so much for AWD and traction control

awd on a Vette doesn't sound marketable at all. besides that, can you imagine the electronics nightmares?

    Ditto the weight penalty.

AWD on a Vette is neat in theory, but living down here in the South, I wouldn't bother with it. I would rather have a lighter and fast RWD version.

    AWD on a vette?

um, no. Vette's make their name for being uber light. Add a Drop box and another drive axle and your light rocket ship just turned into a B51 bomber that can drive in "snow".

    Big nayy from this side.

A vette with awd would be new winter beater in another 10 years if they did it! Other than that the awd Vette idea sucks.

Nobody feels that it is a necessity, however, there are plenty of enthusiasts out there who desire such a configuration. They don't all have to come with AWD, but at least make it an option. Then, when all of the speculation is put to rest, the AWD will shine. As for any potential weight penalty, that's completely irrelevant....

Your kidding, I hope lol. No car is fool proof, yet. You cannot blame the car for a drivers mistake, which I'm sure it was. Try putting the driver of this Skyline (Click Here) behind the same exact GTR, would be a different outcome, I'm sure....

Not only would awd on a vette be the worst idea ever, but the heritage in the corvette. You can't change something 55 years old! That would be like putting a 4 banger in our vehicles. You just don't do it. Anyways with the right stall/tires or even launch you can most of the time beat an awd out of the hole. To me awd is basically training wheels for people who can't drive/launch.

AWD will definitely be a turn off for me
You guys have touched all the points -and very valid ones- as to why it will suck
Even with the option of turning it off, still not right
Some things in life go hand in hand, AWD and a Corvette is not one of them
