    about ls1 tranny swap

    Hey all!

new here, please forgive my NOOB'ness --

Glad I'm aboard on the site!! looking forward to another forum to burn some more time on haha.

    My questions...

I have a ls1 motor with an automatic transmission. I'm not aware of everything that is needed to go from the auto to the 6 speed. I was told I don't have to change the ECU.

basically I'm totally new and don't understand much about it... I hate to even post this thread with my knowledge so low to this. I seriously just picked up the motor couple days ago. Spur of the moment thing... used to turbo charged 4 bangers.

What all is involved from going ls1 auto tranny to ls1 6speed tranny which i believe is called a t56 or one of the "t56's"

Hey! Seriously thanks for putting up with my crap questions, this means a lot. Really looking forward to this all. I've been burnt out on the car world but this is kicking it up a new level for me so its making it fun!

    THANKS ALL!

is it going into your 240sx ? i am sure it is ..so it isnt too hard in your case. the pcm needs to be tuned over to a t56(m6). you need the t56 with the bellhousing and clutch and flywheel and you are pretty well set.

yes in a s14 240sx. Its actually already installed in the car just with auto tranny. I will be using this car for my drift car. I just blew motor on my s13 and I sold all of it. This will be the new beast soon. First I must get the 6speed going then BUILD the beast. I want lost and lots of power LOL.

So the ECU that came with it... is with the auto setup. I can still use it correct? that helps if so...

I figured of course I'd have to get flywheel and clutch. Looking at those parts now.. need something beefy lol

    ONE MORE QUESTION!!!!

I need to swap oil pans.

for my ls1 motor I want to use the gto oil pan b/c my stock one sits far to low and my car is not even slammed yet.

    Question...

If I use the gto oil pan on the motor do i need the oil pick up as well for it to work??

    THANKS!!

Do you guys call it the "batwing" because of the extra notches in the Vette pan? Just currious.. I've seen two different pan types for your engines and was wondering why they are so different..

the batwing is the lowest/shallowest oil pan of the three. the f-body is the medium one and the truck is the deepest oil pan design. the f-body pan usually needs k members to be trimmed on other k members.
