personally i think the ls3 is one of the best engines gm has...it has great heads..and its ability to be bored and stroked to a 427 is amazing

Well, the manual ls3 camaros have been dynoing 365ishwhp which is pretty close to the 425crank hp rating. Its actually almost exactly 15% loss. So its mostly due to the exhaust. There have already been charts of 400-415whp ls3 camaros with bolt ons and tuning only. So big gains are there to be had.

The vette is only rated at 436hp so exactly 10 over the camaro.

I think both cars are rated well, most of the mustang dyno charts for the 2008 ls3 m6 vettes show up at 375-385whp and the ls3 camaros at 360-370whp.

I have the files for the 2010 Camaro, 2010 Corvette and 2009 Corvette. The 2010 Camaro is richer at some rpm and a leaner fuel mixture at some rpm vs. the 2009 Corvette. The 2010 Corvette is leaner thoughout the PE table. Additionally the High octane table of the 2010 vette has more timing advance than the Camaro. Don't know about the exhaust configuration but tuning alone could account for most of the Corvette's additional power.

I have a Tuner from my old Camaro days that I trust. When we did a little poking around in my 2008 Z06, he said that there are probably about 10 ponies that GM left on the table that could be extracted from a tune on the stock LS7.

You can get 10-15hp out of any stock LS engine with a good tune. Lots of people on the Corvette forum have done that to their stock C5's and Im sure there are C6 guys that have done it too.

The 2 biggest differences between them, power wise, is the intake elbow on the Camaro vs. the straight on the Vette, and the Camaro's mufflers.
