    2008 C6 Coupe questions

Anyone know when they will arrive at the dealerships and at what price for the base coupe?

Also new for 08 models is the availability of the 2.73 performance axle ratio with the automatic transmission.
Would this improve/hurt performance in the 1/4?(compared to the standard gears on an auto)

A new, 6.2L LS3 small-block V-8 is the standard engine in Coupe and Convertible models. It is rated at 430 horsepower (321 kW)* and 424 lb.-ft. of torque (586 Nm)* with the standard exhaust system; with the new, optional two-mode exhaust system, power ratings increase to 436 horses / 325 kW and 428 lb.-ft. / 592 Nm.
Is the extra hp/trans upgrades worth the price jump from a 07 to an 08?

    TIA

Aren't the standard gear ratios for the Auto a 2.73? I thought the performance axle had 3.15s. Maybe they are going to 3.73s, that would be sweet. If it is 3.73s then coupled with the extra horses it should be good for a solid 5 tenths in the quarter.

    Wonder about that price jump.

I believe the standard is 2.56 on the (6spd)auto and now with a 2.73 option. The manual has always been 3.42 I believe.

I am seeing msrp of 45170 for the 08 C6 coupe w/ no options.

The performance ratio is the 3.73 rear end, 2.73's or 3.42's for the 6-speeds

Yeah that would make more sense to me but this is what I read:

Also new for 08 models is the availability of the 2.73 performance axle ratio with the automatic transmission. It is included with the Z51 package.

The car also features improved manual transmission shift effort, quicker shift times on paddle-shift six-speed automatic, 2.73 performance axle ratio available with six-speed paddle shift, and improved steering feel.

Transmissions and axle ratios The shifting efforts for both the six-speed manual transmission and paddle-shift six-speed automatic transmissions have been improved in 08 Corvette models. The manual transmission shifting improvements include a more positive and direct feel during gear changes, with better gate-to-gate location.

The six-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission on Coupe and Convertible is improved with new hardware and a new controller calibration that deliver quicker shifts. This change bolsters the feeling of performance and driver control when using the shifting paddles.

    News to me.

I'd save the money from the performance axle at the dealer and drop in some real gears.

No, C5 Z06 Corvettes have their own tuned suspension. Z51 was an option on some coupes and came standard on the 99-00 Fixed roof coupes.
