I'm fairly confident with the cam COMP CAMS custom made for my settup. Its a 228,112,580,2 . with this cam they suggested going with a 3,000-3,200 stall. How does that sound to you guys? Im also going to purchase pacesetter lt with Y pipe. i think that would be a good combo to go with what i already have. info

    i would have to agree
once u start moding, example the cam if u go to big u may have to replace other things... its like a snowball effect.

wait how the hell does a college student have 1500 to mod?

i make around 1000 a month working weekends on our farm. I figured i need around what 1200-1500 for tires and rims. Than after that i can do some upgrades after that. I basicly need to look so when i get done with this month i can buy a few things.

there really isnt a diff between the comp cam and the texas speed cam, comp makes them for texas speed. the texas speed 228r is

The Texas Speed 228/228 .588/.588 Camshaft With Your Choice of Lobe Seperation. This camshaft typically gains approximately 40rwhp!

thats directly from there site u can get a 114 or 112 lsa it depends a little on lsa but power it says will be between 1600-6300 RPM Power Band. get it with a 112 if u want it to lope. our cars are fuel injected and they are a completely different platform from the other gen small blocks they will never sound like old muscle but u can still get it to shake a little bit

what does the lobe seperation do to the car, and how it performs. does the bigger to lobe sepperation make it lope longer and further between?

basically in a nut shell without writting like 8 pages or posting a site were u could read all about cam math, 111.5 is arguably the best lsa for an ls1 but without a custom grind ur not going to find that much so 112 next best thing. the lsa is pretty much how far ur exhaust and intake lobes are away from each other. the tighter lobe seps will make ur car lope more and bring in ur torque curve. a 114 would bring power more into the higher rpms and more than likely not make as much power as the 112. there will probably be like 8 pages of argument over this, i was just on anouther thread that was like5 pages long with people arguing about this but whatever thats for a dif thread

i have the 224r for my maple red mettallic t/a my heads are shaved so much i couldnt get a 228r for it, BUT i just bought a black t/a and the heads i have for it are shaved less so im definetly going with the texas speed 228r. ive looked at a crap load of dif cams by dif comps and the cams that seem to best suit my need are the texas speed cams and these two in general. i have daily driven street cars, these cams give great low mid and high end power, they dont make the motor have to rev to get it, which in turn means less breakage, and if put two identical cars on the drag strip one with the 228r and anouther with say the texas giant, ud be really surprised by the outcome!

I still don't understand why you are running E85. Yes I know it is higher octane. Did you change anything in your fuel delivery? That shit is very corrosive and if you car isn't made for it you will have issues in the future.

i took it to a performance shop and had it programed for the flex fuel. He said i should have no problem running it in my car. i guess ill have to ask him this weekend. It does make it a hell of alot snappier though.

hey man, I'm in the same boat as you...I've had my 02 z28 m6 for around 5 months now, and want to mod it NON-STOP! I've put a K&N filter and SLP LM1 on it. I'm married and in college...I have barely enough money to pay for my damn gas! Hopefully soon I want to get the Pacesetter LT header with the TSP True duals, then go for a 228 Cam. still need to do some more research, then get a nice tune. hopefully if i get a good cam for a dd ill get around 400-410HP. good luck on your ride! let us know what you decide!

Here is one link that supports the corrosion caused by E85.

Just do a search on "corrosion caused by E85"

To me that is bad stuff.
