    Wtf Happened Help Urgent!

So i go to start my car and it almost starts, then all teh electronics completely die. There is a rapid ticking sound coming from the front passenger corner and the gauges are freaking out.

Every time I take my key out if the ignition the ticking sound occurs.

So I hook it up to another car to jump it, and the electronics jump to life and seem to be properly functioning. But it still wont start, make 1/2 a chug then the a clicking sound (different from the first).
I am going to get a new battery, but this is really strange and I hope there is some experience here.
    Thanks Guys,
    Steve

The clicking and the gauges going crazy is probaly just from a DEAD battery. Did you hook-up the jumper cables and let them just sit for about 10 min or so before you tried to start it? The battery may just dead ass hell. That has been my experience with them. If getting a new battery and that fixes the problem (which I am pretty sure it will from what your explaining) be sure to check your charging system to make sure everything is ok. And it never hurts to clean your cable terminals too before putting in the new battery to make sure you have a good connection.

Sounds like the battery or terminal connections to me. Bring it with you for a free load test/credit.

Yeah, the thing that is bothering me is that its not starting with the other cars current comng thru the cables, and the battery in question completely unhooked.

    still sounds battery related...

    possible loose terminal cable...

the ticking is usually the indicator of a bad battery. hope you get it fixed...

Sounds like a combination of a weak battery and slightly loose or somewhat corroded connections.

Car will not start on the new battery. Its turns half way over then starts clicking like the starter is arching. Checked all the connection to the starter and they are perfect, all the pos neg cables running from teh battery to starter are pristine.

This is really got me, I just changed the spark plugs/oil/trans fluid.....but It worked perfectly after that for 2 days.......

    I don't get it, aHGGGGGG

My brothers taurus had the gauges going all crazy like that, reading 0rpm while driving, speed going crazy, then it would die. Replaced the battery, replaced the computer. Still would not work. Replaced the alternator and it fixed it.

When you checked cables you pulled back the boot around the + terminal into the battery? I had this happen glanced from the outside and back and didn't see any problems and would do just like you are talking about wouldn't even jump start. Turned out the cable connection inside the boot was corroded and not making a connection. Double check everything dealing with the cables that definately sounds like its connection related.

Well if you have a new battery and the cables are new and clean. The grounds are good and the connection to the starter is good.

Then all that is left is the starter.

I had a 94 Firebird that went through the same thing bro. i replace the battery. it fixed it for a day then the problem came back. did a tune up problem came back. changed starter and all conections. problem came back. finally a guy told me my voltage regularot was probably sticking. i didnt know at the time but the voltage regulator is built into the alternator. I replaced the whole alternator and that fixed everything.

It was the voltage regulator, the thin red wire must have been damaged when I was doing the spark plugs. Thanks guys for the help and ideas, and u too swtss even tho we had a little disagreement.

I had the same problem. It was the Body Control Module. 200.00 for a new onre I believe. Its located behind the gove box and controls the alarm and what not. Water probably got into it from the windsheild or something.
