    WS6 running horrible

I have a manual 2001 WS6 with 12,000 miles on it. I have recently been having electrical problems. Will not start, trunk will not open, power seats will not move, and so on. Well now things have even got worse. Yesterday it started fine then once I started to move it felt like the motor was dying. Through first 3 gears it sputtered and kicked. I immediately returned to home base... The check engine light never came on. I checked vaccum hoses and anything that would stick out. Any suggestions welcome...........

    My life is a
    Ben Stiller movie.

are your dash lights working? I mean-you might not even be seeing the SES light? Possibly worth having a diagnostic run on it for sure-i just don't know if they will find the short on it.

ive seen a bad battery cause this type of problem...the car may start fine..but if there is a dead cell it could be causing the electrical system to struggle.

Check your grounds. Common corrossion can cause the issues you are having. The one to look out for is the ground that goes from the negative battery terminal to the passenger side strut tower, it gets corroded easily.

i just had that problem. go to autozone and take out a obd2 scanner. costs $150, but within 90 days you can return it and get all of your money back. Basically, they let you rent them for free. (make sure yours has the same policy though).

Check my thread named "engine problems". turned out that my car was running rich. destroyed all 4 o2 sensors and all cats. I'm going to just replace the front ones, gut the cats, and have it tuned.

Btw my car has an electrical problem too. When i turn on the headlights he gauges don't light up and the radio light goes out (its on when headlights are off). Replace a fuse and it blows again within a week. I don't think its as serious as yours but maybe on both car's a sensor is getting an electrical charge causing it to show false readings to the computer?

Good news. It was the battery, one of the cells was faulty. I put a new battery in and it runs fine. Finally can enjoy the car again. Thanks everyone.

I regret to inform everyone the battery did not solve the problem. Just today, it would not start and it had some of the running problems too. I guess its back to the drawing board.

Even with a new battery, check this! I was having the same problems, put in new battery, was good for a couple of weeks....problem came back! Corrosion under the rubber cover of the negative terminal cable was the problem. Cleaned it up....no problems since....!

My friends and I were having a few adult beverages when we put the battery in. I dont remember anything in the way. I will have to look for loose connections.

Coke would work, but its less messy and more effective to use some dielectric grease or battery terminal cleaner/protection spray
