    WS6 Ram air question

I have a 99 WS6 and i noticed that the hood does not actually allow air though the vents. Is there a mod that i can do to get air into the RAM AIR box. Is it worth it? Power gain?

I have noticed that the SS Camaros RAM AIR hoods do actully bring air to the RAM AIR box, or at least the ones i have seen...

Found a pic of this mod that looks pretty good...what do you think? Know where to find it?

A member (brian Green?) used to sell a kit called the BG ram air that was actually featured in a mag and picked up 2tenths and 2mph in the quarter. Unfortunately he doesn't sell it anymore, but you may be able to find a used one. Next best thing is to drill out the rivits and seal the hood to the lid with some weather stripping. The SS does go directly into the airbox but it has to travel 360* to do it, the WS6 is direct which is what makes it so effective when done correctly. Not sure which kit is in the pic..looks like an LT1 setup though.

The pic looks like the Suncoast setup. So it won't help you unless you have one of their hoods.
Just remove the baffles and get some weather stripping or foam to seal the hood to the Airbox.
In all reality the hoods are for looks they show no performance gain until speeds are over 100mph and even then it's not alot.

Its a suncoast setup for my hood. I foamed and stopped up that massive hole for this airbox and dremiled a square when the factory WS6 hole should be...

Google this up------www.fasttoys.com . Don't think they're a sponsor here anymore. They are the only one I've seen that looks close to what the Brian Green Ram Air was.......
Go to Camaro/Firebird----Then on to "Induction"

    It's $195...
I'm going to try it out come spring............

On an actual Ws6, the hood DOES allow air through the vents/intake. The vents have "rain baffles", so it's not a straight shot to the air filter and the hood doesn't actually "seal" to the air intake, but if it's a GM hood, or a "true" copy, then it's supposed to be "open"...! The set-up in your pic looks like a Suncoast set up, which is similar to the Lt1 set-ups. Hope this helps.
