is it window motor or something else?

my drivers window goes up all the way, but when it reaches all the way up i can hear a clicking or grinding until you release the button. Then the window only goes about half way down and stops but i can hear the motor running. Trying to help the window down doesn't help. I know the window motors are junk, but this seems like the motor is working just not moving the window. Any help would be appreciated before i tear my door apart.

Chances are its the motor, but either way you will have too remove your door panel for inspection. Once open you will be able too see whats going on with the motor and gears.
