I just changed mine a few months ago. I ran into the cooling lines (steam lines) as referenced here. Read the instructions before you start and watch for the sender (it is referenced in the instructions.) I got out the dremel, some short fat wood screws, and some JB Weld to modify the 2 lines.

This ain't Uncle Jim's Edlebrock on his L82...you don't "pull" these intakes out and throw another in. You disassemble, lift, shimmy-shimmy, slide...and woolah!

And remember, this ain't uncle Jim's...you have brass inserts...the manifold is just fancy plastic. So torque as spec'd!

    LS6

Didn't some of the 02 WS6's come with the LS6 already? I thought I had heard that at one point or another. How would you know if you have a LS1 or LS6 intake if that's the case? Just curious.

all 02 ls1's had an ls6 intake. if it doesn't have the egr hole right after the trottle body, then its an ls6 intake. i don't see why anyone would put an ls1 intake on an 02 car that already has an ls6 intake, so if you have an 02 you have an ls6 intake

some ls1 manifolds don't have egr's, so you gotta look at the base of the manifold. ls1's have a slight "v" shape floor, while the ls6 has a flat floor that takes up more space.

he's talking about a 2002 ls1, there were no ls1 intakes on those engines

i know i can have my intake off and the whole car back together in under an hour....your would take alittle longer because of the mods that are needed, but still should beable to have it all done in a couple of hours....its a very easy swap if you have any mechanical skills.
DO NOT USE THE LS1 COOLANT LINES WHEN INSTALLING A LS6 INTAKE. You can grind all you want, in the end, the intake will still not seat all the way and you will warp it and also you will leak vacumm!! Ask me how I know!

I'll be the dissenter and say that the LS6 will be worth ~10rwhp peak and more area under the curve than the LS1 intake. Just do it, it's an easy mod and will be needed if you step up with bigger mods later.

I remember reading somewhere about people losing fuel economy after deleting the EGR for the LS6 swap. Is this true? Has anyone here experienced that?

Since he mentioned it being a DD and fuel economy being a concern, it might not be worth the trouble in that case.

And to the OP, welcome to the board! Congrats on the Formula, you'll love it! I sure love mine!
