Wider OR stickier tires???
I always hear that if you get a stall you have to get new tires.
My question is: do I have to go wider or can I just get better(stickier) tires in the stock size (275/40/17)?
I plan on getting a 3k stall this winter to go along with mods in sig.
Thanks for the help y'all

you don't have to do anything. Ideally you want to be able to put the power to the ground so get as wide and sticky a tire as you can find in the wheel wells. The downside to sticky tires is they won't last near as long as a regular performance tire. I got 13k out of my last set of nitto DR's which I consider good.
I would also consider a bigger stall. I run a 3500 in mine and couldn't really see myself running anything less than that.

You don't HAVE to get new tires. I don't put a lot of miles on my car so I run drag radials all the time, and they definitely wear faster and have less thread depth, and of course you can't rotate them. Do some more research on a stall, agree with Orion 3K is too small IMO.

What size tire are y'all running?
I don't want to have to go to a bigger wheel just to get traction. If a DR will keep me planted to the pavement in stock form (wheel wise) I'd be happy..Last edited by HowdyZ_28; 10-10-2007 at 04:40 PM. Reason: Clarification

I'd suggest BFG KDW... I run 295/35/18 (not stock wheels). I would think otherwise you'll be spending a lot more on DRs then street tires. My tires cost me about 1000 for all 4 but I would have gone through a couple sets of DRs by now.
And trust me... when hot, those things can hook.

I would go with the MT ET streets, great for auto cars, pretty good life for a dragradial, about 4k or so, the 275 is PLENTY to hook up on

I ran 255's on the back of mine for a while although I don't think it's recommended on a stock width rim.
