Wide-Open Throttles

Inglese's Eight-Stack Setup Made Simple With EZ-EFIWe remember seeing our first Weber-carburetor setup on a V8, probably some time in the mid to late '70s and very likely the work of Inglese. Back then, a rack of four IDA or IDF two-barrels on a small-block Ford was pretty lofty stuff--the height of trick for trick's sake. Inglese became the go-to name for making that stuff run and pretty soon had manifolds and complete carb-and-linkage kits for many other V8s. The company still sells plenty of that stuff. In 2007, Inglese was bought by the Comp Performance Group, and while we can't say we weren't initially befuddled at the news, the reason is now clear: When you own the FAST fuel-injection company, you can make throttle-bodies that bolt on like Weber carbs and can be used with all those trick, eight-barrel intake manifolds to create a hard-core wow factor. You get to have that old-school look--but with a classier, more sports-car vibe than that of a Hilborn-style stack injection--with the efficiency and driveability of electronic fuel injection. Control the injectors in those eight throttle bodies with the FAST EZ-EFI self-learning electronics, and you get decent power and driveability without having to be an OE-level computer tuner.
