Black- 2002 Firehawk Trans Am
Why Are some T/A's Faster than Others?
I have noticed that some trans ams are just generally faster than others. I have friends telling me the same thing. When I had my 02 firehawk ( wich i sold for some stupid reason) i would be beaten by other trans ams. I raced a stock TA and was beat. Most people say its the way you drive but honestly I know how to drive. I just dont understand why some years were faster than others... same with camaro.!!!

well year has something to do with it, but LS1s also tend to vary greatly in rwhp numbers from the factory. i have seen stock dynos just from around here ranging from 270-325.

Mods.
I know a lot of people that have mods but claim stock.
Some people also believe gears and DR's leave a car stock...
And while you might drive well, maybe they drive better.

my mods
I did put mods on after the defeat. I put on a SLP Loudmouth, mass air, the mass air bellow, the hypertech programmer, the SLP Suspension( i think its L1) or something i dont remeber. and street drags. But i still got beat by my friends LT1 camaro and he only had headers and exhaust. I guess it has to be the way i was driving or the fact that i had an auto.

If you didn't put a stall in it the auto would be a big factor in that.

It helps very much especially if you do a shift kit or I guess a programmer can speed up the shifts too. I havn't had a computer controlled auto to mess with yet.

Some cars even in same year are just Factory Freaks, no matter what I did to my 01 M6(Loudmouth, Lid) my Wifes(Girlfriend at the time) 01 T/A A4 STOCK would either hang with me or take me out

More times than not it is DRIVER. I have killed sooooooo many "hot rods" in my lil ol Dodge Dakota R/T with a lil piss ant 383 Stroker motor ....So many folks spend a kazillion dollars on mods and cannot drive for shit.
And yes...I killed a 06 Vette in my lil red truck from a stop light to about 1000' and shut it off....he was so pissed he was beating the shit out of his steering wheel as he passed me.....of course...he came from the school of you floor it and hold your foot down the entire time....so I killed him...feather that throttle baby...launch and 60' times.....that is where you win races....This is my signature. It is mine. Nobody else has one like it.

Yep, I agree with Sarge. I'd say probably 90% or more of the time, it's the driver.

95% driver, 5% production tolerances and variances from year to year.
