When you disconnect the batt, your car has to relearn the idle. It may take a little time for it to get back to normal. But it should come back if that is your issue.

You could have a vacuum leak also. Make sure all vacuum lines are intact.

I will drive it for awhile and see if that helps it "relearn" the idle.......and where are these cars common to have vacuum leaks?

I've never had a leak, but I hear the PVC tube is prone to cracking.

Your car should relearn fairly quickly, even within the same start. So long as you're not continuing to disconnect it, you should be back to the learned state. I'd look around for anything loose. What were you doing that you disconnected the battery?

I would check those vacuum lines real good. Look at the backside of the pcv hose that goes into the intake.

Thats not it then, it would have relearned by now, unless this is the first time you've really driven the car since then.

Check the PCV system as the other guys said, and also take off the air intake and make sure the TB blade isn't gummed up with carbon or oil, which could cause it to stick open and not fully seat in the closed position.

It's never idled that high before, and while it does it sounds like the engine is "racing".
