Very little insulation combined with that big hatch glass really magnifies any rear end noise.

How do you set pre load?

Hello, I have the same problem, I had my rear end rebuilt about 2 years ago and I figure my bearings need replacing.
But where is this pinion bolt you speak of?

Any info , only replaced fluid in my rear end, never did the bearings myself but first time for everything!

The pinion bolt is at the front of the diff. It has to be tightened to a specific amount of turns (different for each car). If it is set properly befor you loose itt, it helps to mark the position of the bolt, and then count the number of turns to unwind it. If its already wrong as far as I know, you have a trial and error session to loom forward to.
