    Wheel hop....

I just did a gear swap , went from 2.73 to 3.42 and changed from steel drive-shaft to the aluminum 3" drive-shaft... i just noticed the wheel hop is alot worse... that pretty normal? i have all stock suspension... will be adding hotchkis weld in subframes and lower control arms & panhard bar next month... im just wondering if the gears really make the wheel hop more noticeable... thanks

The gears cause the tires to accelerate at a faster rate, and they will react differently. Gears could cause more wheelhop. I'd be very careful if you're still running a stock 10 bolt. Wheelhop will almost certainly destroy one.

What Knight said. You also reduced some rotational mass by adding an aluminum driveshaft. So, you increased the torque to the rear.

also, if the rear isn't centered you're going to get wheel hop... you should also check to make sure your drive shaft is going straight in to the rear...

I would buy a set of Competion Engineering 3 way Adjustable drag shocks. They cost about $90.00 for a set and they are well worth the effort. Just think thoses shocks on you car are probally 11 years old and can't really cope with the extra power your throwing at it. This will keep the rear tires on the ground where they belong. I ran a set when I first started modding and they made a big difference.
