    Wheel Bearing

So driving down the road for no apparent reason a loud high pitch sequel came from the front drivers side tire. It lasted for a few seconds and then went away, then came back about 10 mins later then stops right before I got to work. It sounds like a wheel bearing went out I have 82K on the original ones, but just wanted to post to see if it could be some thing else since a new bearing assemble is $311.00. The car drives fine, does not pull, and the wheel assemble is not hot to the touch, it just makes the high pitch sequel.

how many miles are on your brake pads? Sure it's not the pad sensor rubbing the rotor?

Only about 15K on the pads and rotors, This happens when I'm just driving down the Hwy. Not when the breaks are applied.

I have close to double your mileage & my bearings are fine(checked 2K ago)
Had a noise like that on a pickup truck & found a small stick had lodged up in the caliper.
Jack it up & check them for play, spin them & check for noise.

I'll do that when I get home. Also thought that it might be a pulley on the engine or power steering pump going stupid?? When I find out what it is I'll post it.

that's when those sensors will make noise.....just driving down the road. It's a really high pitched squeal and will be constant for the most part and might even go away when you hit the brakes.

Wheel bearings don't really squeal on and off. When they go bad they make a humming noise. And the noise gets louder when you turn one way (put more load/weight on it) and get quieter turning the other way.

So when I got home I put the car on a friends lift and we checked all the wheels, power steering pump, idler pulleys, belt, and we found nothing. Also of course it has not make a noise since yesterday morning.
