What is wrong with my car???

This just started happening to me yesterday... I went to turn on my car and nothing would happen. I turn the key and it cranks like .25 of a second and nothing happens. I tried turning it on 3 times and it did the same thing until like the fourth time i tried that it actually turned on. It has been doing that ever since yesterday morning and I dont get what is wrong; the car would turn on perfectly before. Is the starter going out or is their some other problem??

    Any help is appreciated.

I'd start with checking the battery terminals/load test the battery. If you have a digital volt meter see what the voltage is with the car off.

sounds like it just a corroded connection on your battery terminals

I will try that, but the gauge shows the battery is almost 3/4 charged. So would it be different witht the car off?

Well if your car is a 6-speed, maybe a bad safety switch in the clutch? Just a thought.

    +1 for the battery terminals

The gauge on the dash will read voltage just fine. The problem is when the starter tries to draw amperage the connection breaks because the corrosion.

If it is a corrosion issue there is some battery contact stuff in a can that most parts stores sells. Works great! put that on and you won't have to worry about corrosion again.

You know what it was a loose battery cable. I checked em out and it turned out that the black one was way loose and so I tightened it, turned the car on and heard my exhaust orchestra right away.

Man I feel stupid for not checking that at first but what can i say im a little unexperienced

Thanks to everybody that chimed in
