What type (weight) of oil to use?

What type (weight) of oil should I use on my 1995 Firebird 3.4 V6 5-Speed? It has 157,6XX. I've been running Royal Purple 10w30 since 141,741 miles (yes i've changed it since then) but just wondering what weight to use due to engine age? Thank you

    10w30 is fine.
10w40 should be ok, but I would stick with the 30.

    I run 5w30

This is my 3rd f-body and I've always ran 5w30, never had a problem.

I bought the 10w30 but noticed when I got home that I accidentally bought "SAE 10w30"??? What is SAE and will I need to return these bottles for just "10w30" or will these be fine?

10-30 is what you wanted in the first place. Less shearing due less viscosity enhancers.

Are you talking about the Racing 21 and 10-30?

Idk... It just says "SAE 10w30" on the Royal Purple Bottle and the old kind I used just said "10w30" on the bottle.

SAE means it probably carries the SAE SM Rating.....
