    what kinda flywheel?

so i've got some mods on my car and my track times still kinda suck. pretty sure part of it is the clutch because it's slipping and sticking. i've got a spec stage 3 but not sure if i should just resurface my flywheel or replace. any ideas? if so what kind of flywheel should i run with if that's the better choice. keep in mind my budget isn't endless! i appreciate the feedback guys.

What have you done to the car (motor, suspension, weight loss)? What are your plans with it, weekend fun once in a while @ the track or lots of racing @ the track?

my girl for the most part is a daily driver but i try to make it to the track a couple times a month for a few passes. i'm not tryin to make it an all out drag car (not until my engine goes and i spring for the lsx 427 anyways) but when i am at the track or just doing "legal" things (of course) on the road i'd like the clutch to operate optimally.
i've all bolt on stuff right now... volant cai, bbk 80mm throttle body, bbk ssi intake manifold, plugs/wires, hooker comp header and ory, borla catless exh, umi lca/torque arm/3pt subframe conn., and a edelbrock 3pt strut tower brace. with all this on a good day i would expect low 13's or real high 12's maybe and i'm stuck at 13.5. there's likely some driver error as i've grown up at the drag strip but recently started running on my own with an m6.
oh i've got bfg kd 275/40/17's on the back that i run down to about 24 or 25 psi.
i haven't done any weight reduction which may help some too as i've got a couple ten in. jl audio's in a box made for camaro's in the ass end.
i just race for the thrill and to have fun but the other night i ran against a 01 z28 that the guy said was stock that ran a 13.2. that was pretty much the breaking point and the red flag that told me i need to change somethin.

You still have your 10-bolt rear end and plan to keep it? If so, get Fidanza lightweight FW. It will rev quicker on the street as well as be strong enough to take to the track as much as you say your will. I had one with an LS7 clutch in my LS6 383 Camaro ss and loved that combo. My car was set up for track abuse but I never got there very often.

yeah i don't think the 10 bolt is going away anytime soon. pretty expensive. if the 3.42 goes i'll probably swap it for 3.73s though.

Stay away from aluminum flywheels unless you are road coursing it. And driving it nowhere else.

Some drag and mostly street duty?? SPEC billet steel.

Warping. This only tends to happen to those with the aluminum flywheel and slicks though. Anything that puts a lot of pressure on the clutch system.

Also, balance. The LS1 was designed with a steel flywheel in mind. Too light can throw the balance off just a touch...

i'm thinkin that if there's a possibility it may warp i'll just go with a steel one. who knows what the future holds for my car and like most people i'd like to only replace things once if possible. if there's a chance that i'll end up runnin a ton of hp and make it mostly drag i'd like everything i do now to be able to support it so i don't have to change things later. i'll likely end up with the spec fw.
