    what is this hose?

I have a hose on the drivers side that doesnt go anywhere, it originates from the front and goes halfway back and just stops. I recently swapped my ls1 for an ls6 and ever since at startup I get an annoying whine from the engine bay, well i got to listening and it comes from this hose. It blows air and whines for a minute or so at startup and at times when im driving but not on the gas. When I look at pics of other engines bays theres a hose that runs up the side but goes all the way back, not like mine. Anybody know?

that goes to your a.i.r. pump. The noise and blowing air is from the pump. Evidently you don't have the rest of the air system there. Just pull it off if that's the case. In the meantime you can pull the fuse and relay for the air pump which is located directly behind the drivers headlight. There's an access panel underneath that allows access to it. Takes just a few minutes to remove.

it injects air into the exhaust stream to heat the cats up quicker. I'm guessing someone ditched it with the headers. Do you have air provisions on the headers? Should be on the 1st primary I think on each side. It's a little post that sticks up off the header that has a flange on it. Those air lines connect to it and inject air into the exhaust stream.
