    What is a Haynes manual?

I have heard a few people on here mention it, but what is it?

Fixit book for a specific car that leaves out a lot of important info. Gives you just enough to leave you wondering about some details. Helm manuals are the shop manuals dealers use but are pricier.

its an auto repair manual with lots of info about the car and each of its systems. Its is good as a reference guide but lacks finite details. I would recommend getting one if you work on your car as it can give you some good insights. Like I said before though it most definitely has its limitations when it comes to doing the most involved repairs. Bottom line it can help you out for sure but its no the end all be all of information getting.

Haynes manuals are mostly quick ref books for those who already know how to work on their model car/truck. Chiltons are more indepth but like said above an actual shop manual would proly be the best. Haynes manuals are good for the everyday monday morning mechanic, but as for specifics they are definetly lacking.

Suggestion: If you are particularly irritated by another member's posting habits and are constantly fighting the urge to flame them, you can click on that person's profile, and select "Add to ignore list." This will make that person's posts invisible to you.

I would agree with that. I mainly use haynes manuals just because they don't have all the detailed info. If I'm looking in one I'm basically just looking for a certain thing and don't want to weed through all the stuff I already know. Here's another thing about ALL of those manuals that's bothered me for years.....the index on all of them suck.

    Haynes Manuals--love 'em

I get a Haynes manual for every vehicle I buy whether its a car or a motorcycle. I love the photos for each step in the job. For the money, they can't be beat.
