a cut-out will mess with the tune slightly but not enough to where its dangerous to WOT. cut-out will be fine... unless he was tuned on a very lean a/f tune but thats a diff story since he is still stock.

im stock and i have Lt's with a cut-out becore going over the axle

IMO i would wait for a tune until u get a major upgrade(cam, heads, etc)
it would just be a waste of money now because u gotta get it tuned again

stall (@$550), tune(@$350), shiftkit(@$150), tranny cooler(@$60), gut the cats($FREE), delete the o2 sensors($comes with the tune), and mite even have enough left over if you do it yourself for a case of beer and a bottle of jack to help you put it all in wrong...lol...this package is estimated at $1110, but can be yours if the price is right...

No offense, if his budget is only 1k, he should skip the FAST Intake, it cost $800, that's basically his whole budget!

Believe me I have one of these intakes, there are other mods more worthwhile, even if you have a heads and cam package already.

Best bang for the buck, nitrous and headers. The most you'll get out of the FAST manifold is maybe 20 hp on an already camed motor. Much better to invest that $800 on a 100-150 shot of nitrous.
FAST 90/90, SLP Lid, Kooks JetHot Coated LT's, American Racing Y-Pipe+Magnaflow Cats, DHM Electric Cutout, Flowmaster American Thunder Catback, HP Tuners Software, 343 rwhp.

BMR Convertible Subframe Connectors, Hotchkis Strut Tower Brace, BMR Driveshaft Safety Loop.

you can't get a nitrous set up done properly for under a grand... unless you do it your self... then you'd also need a dyno tune...

High Performance Car + Modifications = Needs High Performance Lubes

Also, the Amsoil Ea Absolute Efficiency OE replacement air filter is gaining popularity with LS1 F-Body applications.

Doing it himself, yeah as matter of fact that's exactly the idea. Especially if its just dry.

As for tuning, pricing could depend. If he has a buddy with a handheld tuner he could just borrow it and change the timing for free., that would be ideal

I forgot to mention before, free mods, egr mod, debaffling hood, MAF screen removal (I personally wouldn't but some claim power gains), throttle body port assuming you know what your doing.

    Stall.

Porting MAF is a joke IMO. De-screening it is even more of a joke. Debaffling hood, I see next to nothing coming from that. There are some free mods to do, But a stall is crucial for a auto.

+1 on the stall man...if you havent noticed my 3G budget im in the same mode you are....Its not what we want to hear (HP and Raw numbers is what we all want) but in reality we want the car to move faster....the way to get the car to move faster BEFORE you get HP is going with stall, you have to get all that power to the ground as opposed to just in the engine bay right?? The stall is the first and best upgrade IMO for Auto guys like us, i mean when you get your stall ( im going with 3400 with my daily driver) it will feel like you have done engine work to your car, it will move a hell of a lot quicker off the line.... (trust me i've done research for DAYS)..Fuddle stalls seem to work as i have one in my dads 96' 383LT1...Just my 2 Cents...

if my car would have worked worth a damn... had talked to fuddle and 3400 stall would have been next mod.. my research told me this was a very good value--punch per buck if you will..
