I would do a stall before a shift kit. It does so much more wonders for the Automatic. But I would get it running tip top shape before modding.

Get a stall. Wish I had got mine before. Get LT Pacesetters, Hookers, TSP(Texas Speed) etc.... Just don't get shortys, which are not full headers. Search the sponsors here or sale forums and e-bay, but make sure you know what your getting. And you will need a y-pipe and a tune, not the handhelds or mail order tunes. Trust me I have made all the mistakes, learning the hard way. Check ls1tech.com as well as these forums for lots of info. Tires? I got 4 NEW BFG 245/50/16 I been trying to get rid of, but I'm in NC. Good street tires. SFCs are a good idea and make sure your suspension is decent. That's a whole 'nother can of worms. And Welcome!

I am not 100% positive because I run a M6 (Manual 6 speed) but I know that the stall is located in the front part of the tranny in between the tranny and motor. I believe it slips itself (3200 stall, slips between idle and 3200 rpms) which gives you maximum traction and keeps you in the power band. A search on the forums might yield better results. Like I said, I am not a automatic guy.

a stall converter lets you rev your motor to the set stall speed i.e. 3200rpms with your foot on the brake and when your car shifts instead of the rpms falling way back down they stay very high i have a 3400 stall in my T/A and when i floor it it instanlty goes to almost 5000 rpms when your rolling and when it shifts it only falls down to 4800 rpms it will knock .5-.6 off of your e.t. if you have sticky tires

How hard is it to install a stall convertor and how much do they cost?

Need to drop the tranny to install one. Shop will charge you a couple of hundred I believe. A good stall can run $500 new or more. Don't buy a cheap one. You should also install a tranny cooler.

save your self the $$$ and do the installs yourself

as for 12s IMO give the car a REALLY good tune up i.e. plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter oil change, tranny fluid, diff fluid stock auto at track should easy make 13.3 - 13.6

SUSPENSION will knock down your times quick SFC, LCAs, relocation brackets for LCAs, Torque arm, springs and shocks car makes plenty of power from the factory after free mods to get you atleast a 12.99 just need to tighten up the car a bit and get it setup.

Exhaust work will will definately help, stock is VERY restrictive. and Stall would be my personal next step
